Betsy Marsch is an abstract, figure, and portrait painter specializing in oil on reacted copper substrates. She works with acids, metal and traditional media to create rich works exploring the human form and psyche with scientifically innovative techniques. Since taking her BA in painting, aesthetics and philosophy from Union University (Jackson, TN), she has established her studio in Franklin, TN while showing in solo and group exhibitions and giving talks on the practice and philosophy of art. In 2016 she attended a residency at the New York Academy of Art in Lower Manhattan, and in 2018 she studied briefly under the nihonga painter Makoto Fujimura.
