Hungarian artist Péter Csuka was born in Eger on 26 April 1986. He left school early and is entirely self-taught. Péter’s first real encounter with art, at the age of 10, was through a comic book at a local newsagents; he was attracted by the cover and in his own work he has since then put much time and effort into the covers. He knew then that he was going to be an artist. Péter’s family was less enthusiastic, even though his teachers predicted a bright future for him in the Arts. Despite his success since then – which includes exhibitions in Szeged, Hungary and Gothenburg, Sweden – his father has remained unimpressed. Péter has recently started creating his own comics, amongst which “Der Leiermann” and has started work on the “Winterreise” cycle in graphic novel format.
